Swept Off My Feet (Literally) - Finding Your Anchor in the Lifestyle
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me, “How do you actually meet approachable, Lifestyle-friendly people?” I could probably fund our entire next collection of jewelry.
It’s the million-dollar question for couples as well as singles - whether you are brand new to the Lifestyle or seasoned veterans looking to expand your circle.
People assume there is some secret, velvet-roped club where everyone just inherently knows the rules. But the truth? Sometimes you meet your people by recognizing Subtle Signals out in the wild. And sometimes, you meet them the exact same way my Stag and I met: on the wild west of the internet.
Yep, Eric and I met on OkCupid.
But I didn't just swipe right and jump into a date. I am a natural investigator, and I protect my peace fiercely. I made that man text me for six solid months before I ever agreed to meet him in person. Six months!
Looking back, it was the ultimate test of his character. He didn't push, he didn't demand my time - he just showed that consistent, solid endurance. He proved he was a safe space before we ever shared a physical one.
When we finally did meet, it didn't take long for the universe to test his protector instincts. We were at an outdoor Steve Earle concert, and if you know anything about Colorado, you know the wind does not mess around. A massive gust came through, caught my 119-pound frame, and literally lifted me off the ground and knocked me down. Yup there I was, knocked on my ass by the wind!
Eric’s reaction wasn't just to help me up. His immediate, primal instinct was,
“Well, I guess I have to keep her forever so I can be her permanent ground tether.”
He saw me getting bullied by the weather and immediately stepped into his role. And that, my friends, is exactly what you should be looking for when you are seeking out Lifestyle-friendly connections.
Whether you are looking for a play partner, a unicorn, or lifelong friends in this community, you are ultimately looking for a tether. You are looking for people who respect your boundaries (even if they take six months to lower!), who make you feel secure, and who instinctively know how to catch you when the chaotic winds of life try to knock you down.
Meeting people in the Lifestyle isn't about perfectly orchestrated encounters. It's about showing up authentically, having a little patience, and keeping your eyes open for those who match your energy.
And when you finally do find your people? You celebrate those beautiful, grounded connections. That is exactly why we design the pieces we do at Vixen & Stag. Our Elegant, Premium designs aren't just accessories; they are High-Quality Lifestyle Symbols.
They are the Statement Pieces that let the world - and your partners - know that you value solid, unwavering connections.
Stay grounded out there, darlin’s. And watch out for the wind. 😉
