🍍 Why Do Couples in the Lifestyle Laugh So Damn Much?
Let’s be honest for a second.
If you look at mainstream media’s portrayal of Consensual Non-Monogamy or the Lifestyle, you’d think we spend 100% of our time giving each other smoldering stares across dimly lit hotel bars, sipping expensive martinis, and executing perfectly choreographed rendezvous.
And sure, we definitely have our Premium sultry moments. But if you want to know the real secret to thriving in the Lifestyle?
It’s realizing that half the time, you are just wheezing with laughter at the sheer, unadulterated absurdity of it all.
Outsiders often wonder how we handle the "intensity" of our relationship dynamic. The truth is, couples who step outside the traditional relationship escalator laugh more than anyone else I know. Why? Because when you throw the standard rulebook out the window, you also throw out the polite filter.
Here is exactly why we are always laughing:
1. The Radical, Unfiltered Honesty
When you reach the point in your relationship where you are openly discussing your deepest desires, boundaries, and fantasies, there is no room left for pretending to be perfect. You've already bared your soul (and your bodies). That means when a zipper gets stuck in the heat of the moment, or someone completely misreads a Subtle Signal at a resort pool, you don't panic—you just laugh. We've mastered the art of the awkward fumble.
2. The "Ambitious" Anatomy Math
As the designer of your favorite Elegant Intimate Adornments, let me tell you a little behind-the-scenes secret from the Vixen & Stag workbench. I regularly craft custom Statement Pieces that require specific measurements.
Recently, I had a gentleman order a custom piece and confidently submit a 5.75-inch diameter for his sizing.
Darlin’. Nearly 6 Inches. In diameter.
Unless this man is attempting to wear a steering wheel or hula hoop around his most prized possession, I can assure you he mixed up circumference with diameter! Having to send a highly professional, High-Quality customer service email asking, "Excuse me sir, but did you perhaps measure your thigh by mistake?" is the exact kind of hilarious reality check you only get in this community. (And to the gentleman who eventually got his properly sized piece—kudos to your confidence, my friend!)
3. The Unpredictable Environmental Hazards
Let me give you another prime example of why we can't take ourselves too seriously. We have a cat named Mayham, and let me tell you, he completely lives up to his name.
I remember one time, things were getting wonderfully heated in the bedroom. A friend of ours was over, and let's just say they were in a very... compromised, entirely unclothed position on the bed. Suddenly, Mayham (my wonderful Black and White, part Maine Coon) gets spooked by absolutely nothing, he launches himself straight into the stratosphere, and decides the fastest escape route is sprinting directly across the mattress.
The only problem? My friend’s bare ass was squarely in his flight path. Screech! Let me tell you, trying to maintain a sultry, Elegant atmosphere while someone is yelping because a furry torpedo just used their backside for traction is completely impossible. And honestly, how on earth do you explain fresh cat scratches on your ass to your vanilla doctor or massage therapist?! You don't. You just die laughing, grab the first aid kit, and carry on.
4. We Don't Take Ourselves Too Seriously
At the end of the day, the Lifestyle is supposed to be fun. It’s about exploring, connecting, and embracing pleasure. If you can’t laugh when a perfectly planned evening takes a wild, unpredictable detour, you’re missing the best part of the ride.
Whether you are brand new to the scene or a seasoned explorer, wear your Lifestyle Symbols proudly, keep your communication completely open, and never lose your sense of humor. Because a couple that can laugh together through the awkward moments is a couple that is absolutely unstoppable.
Stay spicy, stay elegant, and for the love of heaven, please double-check your tape measures!
